Some Bean Sketches

Did these awhile ago, decided I haven't posted any caricature work on here recently so here you go.  Weather permitting I will also spend my Sunday in the chair @ Six Flags.  You may see the results of that posted here if it pans out.  If not... next weekend for sure!

Illustrator Magazine Cover

My first endeavor into the incredibly powerful Adobe Illustrator program., a magazine cover completed as part of an assignment for my computer applications class.  All the images were scanned in from various magazines (National Geographic June 2005 and April 2005, and AfterCapture August/September 2008) and clipped using the pen tool path applied as a clipping mask.  All the article titles, and the magazine title and tag-line are original though.

There is a lot going on, because the image had to contain 7 images and 4 article titles.  I definitely learned a lot with the assignment and I'm excited about the next two for the coarse, Black and White Vector Illustration, and Color Vector Illustration!  Keep an eye out for those two coming within the next month or so!

Depth of Field Project.

The goal of this assignment was to play around with the depth of field (what's in or out of focus) while exploring one interior space and one exterior space.  For my interior space, I choose my computer, and my pets.

My Bud.

Male Red Eyed Tree Frog

Cosmo, Veiled Chameleon

My exterior space, I chose to take a closer look at the forgotten areas around our house, and what lives there...

I forgot to spot tone these before I scanned them in... so I have some imperfections, most of which were addressed after the scan...

Atmospheric Landscape Painting

My latest assignment for my watercolor class is this, atmospheric landscapes.  I did two of them because I wasn't too fond of my first one (which actually appears here second.)  First one is 12" x 16" in size and the second is 10" x 14." Both completed in black india ink.

Ugly Object Project

One of my 4 studio classes this semester is photography.  This is my first project in that class, ugly objects.  I chose aluminum cans as my "ugly object" because I keep finding them in the TRASH and I have to dig them out!  Gross.  Anywho, please recycle! enjoy!

All are raw scans, no editing involved.  Taken with a basic manual 35mm film camera from like 1972, Nikon.

In the Dark

Yesterday I was without internet service because of some yard work going on in front of our house, I think they severed the lines.  Hopefully it'll be back on tonight but today I'm posting from school.

Here is what I've been working on recently, photo restoration for my computer applications class.  Retouches applied with Photoshop CS4.

This is an old photo of my grandma from my moms side, (far right), her sister (far left) and two unknown friends (center)

Ink Wash Still Life

I've been unusually interested in puppets lately, Don't ask why but this is a still life with two hand puppets and a hat.  The one on the left is one that I made, a cow wrapped in bacon, and the one on the right is one that I purchased, a shark

I find ink incredibly challenging.  Especially since we are not to use white ink to lighten values that we take too far,  I would really enjoy pulling out some highlights, but it is what it is.
